On Wednesday 6th February 2020, the new Japanese Ambassador to Malawi His Excellency Mr Satoshi Ikawiri, Visited the Foundation for irrigation and Sustainable Development offices.

The ambassador came along with the Senior Officials from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to know more about FISD, to understand its thematic areas and to explore the possibility of future collaboration.

Afterwards, the envoy proceeded to Machentche LEA School, where FISD with support from the people of Japan is ironing out hunger related absenteeism, malnutrition, drop and loss of attention during lessons by providing learners with meals procured with proceeds from high value horticultural crops, grown under solar powered irrigation.
